Spurs hire Becky Hammon as first female assistant coach
Girl power to the MAX. As a Lakers fan, purple and gold bleed through my veins, so naturally, I can't stand the San Antonio Spurs. But when I found out that they hired previous WNBA Star Becky Hammon as an assistant coach, I was excited and incredibly proud of the organization. Way to take a leap forward into a direction that should've been taken decades ago.
USA TODAY's Jeff Zillgitt said, "On Tuesday, the Spurs named Becky Hammon an assistant coach, making her the first female assistant in NBA history.
I very much look forward to the addition of Becky Hammon to our staff," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said in a statement. "Having observed her working with our team this past season, I'm confident her basketball IQ, work ethic and interpersonal skills will be a great benefit to the Spurs."
